Hi Bob,

I appreciate your reasoned and logical arguments.

In the United States of the 1950s and earlier, where the vast majority of people shared largely common values and ideals, very limited government with a small footprint was required. Today, in our multicultural society filled with people from every corner of the world who have a very wide range of ethnics, values, beliefs, and standards, the government is very large and dominating if only to keep us all from killing each other. Of course the government greatly exacerbates this Tower of Babel condition in modern society. This is why the federal government loves multiculturalism and diversity. Such a condition absolutely necessitates the dependance of most people on the government. For very intelligent people like you and most of the good people who frequent this forum, such tight control over us is suffocating. It feels like we are treated like small children. Why? Because the government governs to the level of the lowest common denominators in society.

As an intelligent man, it has always annoyed me greatly that I have to come to a complete stop at stop signs when I am perfectly capable of slowing a little, surveying the situation, and continuing through the intersection without stopping if it is safe to do so, but, everyone isn't able to do this, so we all are forced by the law to come to a complete stop before proceeding. If we fail to do this and we are caught, armed government agents will take money from us at gunpoint. We're reduced to that due to stupid people in society that we all have to tolerate day in and day out.

Compare this to the jobless and homeless drug addict with no insurance who ODs and is rushed to the emergency room, accumulating untold expenses in a lengthy medical stay, which you and I have to pay for. I think about things like this when I have to stop at the damned stop sign or risk penalty. There is no penalty for the drugged bastard getting free medical care at our expense.

The Holy Bible tells us that God created different languages to keep men from effectively communicating and completing a tower intended to elevate man to God's level. Modern governments do the same by using multiculturalism to keep like minded people confused, disordered, chaotic, and in constant protective posture from a wide array of external threats all around us. People in this condition pose absolutely no threat to the elite who, incidentally, reap very large financial rewards from the suffering they cause through the forced application of multiculturalism.

Ideally, the United States would end multiculturalism and reduce the size of the government very substantially.

Regarding drugs, did the government really decide to ban cannabis, or was that a reaction by representatives of people who did not want drug use in our midsts?

The whole argument is such a two-edged sword. In a community where everyone shares the same values, drug abuse wouldn't be an issue. In the old west, if someone deviated too far from accepted standards, a posse might ride out and whip his ass, or perhaps hang him if the offense was great enough. That turned into the government protecting those who violated community standards from receiving community justice, which turned into the government making sure that someone wasn't causing great unrest in a community by going against the community's standards.

So, which do we want? Anarchy, where local people decide what happens to offenders, or government that controls us all to the Nth degree? Humans basically hate each other and want to kill each other, so there is no easy solution. Enter multiculturalism, and the condition is far, far worse.

Also, remember the man who was so distraught by abortions that he killed the abortion doctor in Missouri? The point is that everyone has a trigger that would cause him or her to kill if pushed far enough. Multiculturalism makes all of that much, much worse. We're basically in a powder keg environment that is set to blow big at any time. All it will take is an interruption in the food supply.

So, bottom line, when discuss big things like legalizing this or that, or outlawing this or that, there are very large segments of society that have diametrically opposite views...on everything imaginable.
