Brad,
So there will be no misunderstanding. My objection right now to giving my print to AOL is not that it will be used to check up on me. I would have no objection to giving it to Mastercard or Visa in place of my signature. I just question the use that AOL would have for it, and how secure they would keep it. I would want them or any organization to have the fingerprint file protected with their own internal fingerprint sign on system such as NRID could provide,RIGHT NOW.
I don't care if it is minutia based. The FBI will not do background checks for every Tom, Dick, and Harry. And I doubt that the ones from a Keytronics Scanner would provide the FBI with the full print set that they would like for a positive Report. So the Ratman argument doesn't concern me. I know you guys from Idaho don't trust the Govt. but I work for it. But, I digress.
I would be concerned that if my print was not secured, someone could do financial transactions with it in some form, shape or manner, and I would not have any recourse. it might be far fetched, but that is my concern with putting my print on a very large open system. If it were a matter of me signing on to a closed system such as a Bank, I don't have as much of a concern. If I worked for a company or organization that had a closed Intranet system, I would similiarly have no problem.
I hope that has made it clearer.
Sheldon
