Maybe the Kelly Criterion might be helpful? Can't find where we discussed it back here a few years ago.

For myself, I've never done well with "my single best idea". They either don't work out as I expected, took too long to come to fruition (I sold out too soon), or I bet more money than I could live with (and sold too soon). Some timing/anchoring bias too, namely my best idea drops in relative importance over time as I discover "new" best ideas.
