Oh that's right , another Tuscon Gem & MIneral show i missed again , oh well... but did go 7yrs running back when it was still more rustic , roaring & expanding by leaps and bounds . Met a bunch from Canada who had brought a 1/2 ton of labradorite with them & spent a day telling them this was unacceptable , friends & we needed tons . Quite a few years ago , but those guys didn't waste a minute they came back the next year with tons and jade too ...slabbed , carved into eagles , spheres oblisks. Very hot selling material that was still fresh in the market , met & networked many people together down there and made a ton .
Friend of mine's daughter married one the larger mineral dealers down there at the time Zee Haig who's brother Bob has one of the largest meteorite collections in the world . Had dinners up at his house and got to see the "steel lined room" with his finest collection , wow type of things one rarely ever sees but in museums .
One of the very best times , people from all over the world & treasures, fossils of every kind of description from out of the earth that just opened your eyes each year . The old fossil diggers from Montana would show up each yr with something new that was simply majestic they showcase , until the Smithsonian would show up & plunk down $1.5 mil for it . |
