Your second paragraph addresses the racism that I was referring to. My point had nothing to do with the black seat on the USSC, which is what koan focused on. It has to do with koan assuming that blacks are a monolithic group who all think the same way (about Clarence Thomas in this case). That view is racist.

the view that conservative blacks are buffoons or unintelligent and are betraying their race is akin to KKK members accusing whites who marry blacks as race traitors.
