I hope you are right - but I still believe the job of the president is to lead. That means creating public opinion and not following it.

Look at it this way. If he does not run on a serious budget plan - what will he do next year if he is reelected. I want the two candidates to run on clear plans and let the nation vote (eg Paul Ryan and whatever the hell Obama believes is the long term solution). If they run on clear plans and the nation votes - then the Congress should implement the winning plan. To think Obama is going to run on his current budget and then not get real (as in beginning to care about the country first) next year is terrifying.

So - let us assume he runs on his free lunch campaign - wins with the votes of all those with their hands out - how does he get real next year? I submit he could run on a realistic plan and skate to victory. The main reason now to vote him out is that he is leading to fiscal ruin.

The guy is president and either he believes in something or he does not.

As for the automatic cuts - I say bring 'em on! Something has to be done. Perhaps this is the only way short of the bond market busting us.

Bob
