As I mentioned the other day, I think "birth control" is the more accurate term and I think that it should be used in this discussion. I assumed when I read that piece that whoever wrote used it because he was astute enough to use the better word. I don't see how using the better word can be construed as devious.

Is that more or less deceptive than using the term contraception instead of free access to abortion drugs?

"Abortion drugs," regardless of accessibility, is not a correct term for the category. It only applies to one item on the FDA list, AFAIK. The FDA list comprises a bunch of contraceptive methods and one abortion drug, best I can tell.
