Russia and France took part in the war of 1812 and the best part of the war was the 1812 Overture. < I'm giving a program on the War of 1812 next weekend, so have been doing more research for that. I'll bet 9 of every 10 people don't know anything about that War, who participated, and what long lasting impact did the War of 1812 have on America. > The long-lasting impact was the cold war which continues to this day which could get very very icky if the USA continues on the road to Greekdom, which seems very likely as Obama is all for it and the Republicans [apart from Ron Paul] are keen on discussing trivia.

Back in 1812, you wouldn't have thought that a Kenyan kid, inclined to Mohammedanism, bowing deeply to the Saudi king, would be boss of the USA and fixin' to cut noocular bombs out of the cold war equation.

England had bigger fish to fry in 1812. Napoleon was being really annoying, Australia, NZ, Canada/Quebec, South Africa, India, China were all looming as parts of the British Empire to be civilized and minded. A bunch of bolshie Irish and slave-driving others in the USA were not worth putting too much effort into. Slavery was not allowed by England but the Americans thought it a spiffing idea.

China and Russia have gone through their half-centuries of calamitous catastrophes and come out the other side, now gaining ground, very quickly in China's case. The USA "Titanic" is heading into their own catastrophe, full steam ahead, full of that Greek word hubris, with the debt iceberg dead ahead and socialism steering the ship. The socialists say more shovel-ready money is needed so want to increase debts and dilution a $trillion at a time.

A return to Virtuous Victorian Values and reviewing of the seven cardinal sins would be a good place to start.
