I am sort of stuck on the definition of "value". This being a measure of somethings "worth". In real terms any stock has a measure of worth be it BP or the lowly BAC. both examples seem to be worth some amount of money at any given point in time. Therefore both are valid tradable commodities in my mind.

Another term you use I struggle with - "long term". In the long term I will be dead. I know it. I don't really care. Its in the in-between-times that matter to me. Perhaps that is "short term".

If I can buy something today and sell it tomorrow for a profit. I am happy to do that. For me liquidity of a stock is a measure of its worth. BAC has liquidity in spades. BP probably no so much. Accounting procedures and business practices are things that I eschew, perhaps this is a personal deficiency.

Since the beginning of the year I have made the following trades. One in MS, one in GS, one in XOM, and 40 in BAC. All have turned a profit. Probably beginner's luck. I currently have 5 open trades in BAC, who knows maybe my luck will change or I will soon explore the extent of "long term".

"Cautious" is probably not a characteristic that I would use to describe myself.
