I don't know whether Bush ever failed at a business. But I do know that it is quite common for business people to fail at business multiple times before succeeding. For example, Boone Pickens and Donald Trump have both failed at business before becoming successful. It is not unusual to see multiple failures before the first success. Business is, like anything else, a learning process.

I've seen many people fail at business and come back stronger next time around. While I've yet to have a business fail, I can say that each successive business I've been in has made more money, presumably because I learned from early mistakes. I think that's typical.

As to Bush, his last business before going to the WH was by any measure wildly successful.
