I don't think the problem was the VP candidate last time, BWDIK.

If a libertarian point of view gets a wider and more accurate hearing I believe it will attract a lot of people, maybe more than it will scare off members of the 'religious right', an umbrella under which I'm lumping all of the stiffer elements of the Republican party to keep it simple. Had the ideas already been fairly heard, Gary Johnson would have been a better public face, as Rand Paul may be some day.
