Steve, I beg to differ on this issue. Brits were colonizers of India and USA, Taiwan on the other hand is sort of a break-away state of China and hence the 'One China policy' and its acceptance by most countries of the world, including the United States. As you know the U.S has no diplomatic relations with Taiwan in the conventional sense of the term and why do you think that is? It is because the U.S also admits that Taiwan is part of China and there is only one China and it is the P.R.C, not P.R.C and R.O.C. Taiwan (R.O.C) is a temporary phenomenon at best. The minitue China becomes a democracy as many think it will,Taiwan will only be happy to join their motherland,if China doesn't take Taiwan by force before then(this is very unlikely though). The only reason Taiwan came about is because of the Communist revolution, and Chiang Kaishek (sp?) and his people didn't want any part of it,so once the Commies are gone,Taiwan will have no reason to stand alone.

Oh, I forgot to mention Macau, it will soon be part of China as well, I dont think the damn Portugal has any business being there in the first place.

Just my opinion, and certainly I do respect yours.
