We could never have a CCC today. The CCC enrollees were sent to camps mostly in rural areas. They mostly planted trees, made fire roads in forests, fire towers, built bridges, drained swampy areas, built levees, etc. There was a need for fire control and tree planting during the dust bowl era and the clear cutting of western forests. We already have agencies that do that stuff today and some of the stuff they did (like drainage ditches) could only be done after years of EIS's and lawsuits now - wetlands ie swamps are protected now. The CCC was only open to males. Try that now. And only physically fit, unmarried, unemployed males between 18 and 26. Imagine the lawsuits. What about the disabled? There were 2600 camps overall, with almost 150 set aside for blacks ... CCC was segregated by race. No wonder Democrats are nostalgic. Enrollees were paid $30 a month, with $25 of that withheld and "sent home." All this is unimaginable today.

Today, the enrollees would be SEIU represented and they'd be assigned make work phony baloney jobs with some fashionable green coloration.
