February 09, 2012 DAVID MURAKI SELECTED FOR NATIONAL PANEL Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar recently announced the creation of a federal advisory committee for a 21st Century Conservation Service Corps. CCC Director David Muraki was named to the committee, along with representatives from federal agencies, community organizations, businesses such as outdoor industries, and other conservation corps. The 22-member committee will advise Secretary Salazar on how to establish a 21st century program and "to engage young people in hands-on service and job training on public lands and community green spaces." David, appointed to a two-year term, will attend the first meeting of the advisory committee this month in Washington, D.C. A March meeting is set for San Francisco. "I really appreciate the Secretary's commitment to the America's Great Outdoors initiative and the 21st Century Corps idea," David said. [ Read more from the CCC ...
