What is the difference? We are all humans and all need health care. What is to debate? I think the hard core truth has more to do with pure politics. We have a group think problem in the Republican party which is controlled by the very rich and anyone they can food into going along wth their nonsense which just makes them richer. The Republicans are controlled by big business. They voted almost categorically against the New Deal, against medicare and medicade. They vote unanimously against the Clinton tax increases saying they would put us in a depression. What really happened was that 22 million jobs were created and his last three years we had huge surpluses. How did they get it so wrong. Group think sold by the very rich. They knew it wa BS when they voted that way. They now vote unanimously against everyhting Obama does and it is even 'agreed upon by almost all" that global warming is a ruse. Do they really believe that? That evolution is wrong. Really? I think the Republicans have a we and them mentality. So whatever the talking points are most go along. Well, big private health care and big pharma etc do not want single payer health care as they would lose their profits and most concervatives blindly go along with it. Just as they go along with the Koch brothers who have about 50 billion and want to run their coal operation as dirty as they can, so they make shit up about global warming and tell the Republicans to go along with their ruse. Is it really Ok to outlaw Canadian drug imports, or deny competetive bidding for drugs by medicare? They said Canadian drugs were not safe. Don't we all know that is a lie, so what else are they lying about? It is politics not program that is the problem. <<Politics is the art of the possible and to compare the USA to other Western Democracies is an apple to an orange thing so to speak. We don't have a homogeneous political strata therefore, the different political needs of the different constituencies have to be addressed before we can bring into being a health care plan we all can live with. It's not like one can go out and order one up--as we are seeing. And the reason(s), I submit, there is so much opposition to it is there is a lot of lack of clarity surrounding it. So a fair and frank debate on it is needed without demonizing and mudslinging.
