I found this exchange on Facebook. It was started by my friend, Paul, and 2 of his friends got into it. Sigh
Paul:American voters of ALL parties have been severly misled by the media !
Cal: Perhaps that's true, Paul. But then, there are the many videos of Rep Paul, and the debates... enough, I think, to form an opinion without any help from 'the media'.
And it's probably not necessary to point out that (former) analysts don't decide policy.
DG: They don't come and attack us, because we are rich and free. They come and attack us, because we are over there. It's all blowback and anyone who thinks any different just doesn't have a clue or care enough to know or are too scared to see the TRUTH. It only takes a logical mind to know that we are being attacked and terrorized due to our own actions. As I have always said... violence only breeds violence. Duh. Okay, so, I like this foreign policy on war and his belief system, but do I really trust it? I don't know. It's amazing how many vets I have talked to that didn't believe in what they were just fighting. No wonder so many came home so ill and so many took their own lives. It's so horrible. I don't even have words for it anymore.
Cal: Don't have the words, eh? Clueless Cal heaves a sigh of relief.
Just how many vets does it take to constitute 'amazing' numbers, DG. 10? 20? 100?
Since I don't see the TRUTH according to you, I'm clueless, careless or afraid. Wow. Thanks for the analysis. I had forgotten how quick you are with labels for people who don't agree with you.
DG: Cal, I'm a photographer and deal with people all day long. Many vets came in for photos with their family after arriving home or being in leave. I have photographed more than I can remember over the last few years. Never once did I hear ...a positive story or that he/she believed in that war. Plus, you know what... it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out right from wrong. I'm not labeling you as an individual either, Cal, but I do believe that logic speaks volumns in this case. Maybe I should also say that I've worked with numerous Muslims, Hindus, Jews, etc and because I'm a sociology major, it's in my nature to ask questions and get into deep discussions. Everything is always two-sided, but the bottom line is that they are also beautiful people that deserve to live free from fear. We are all God's children. We are all the same. Remember... God was not of one religion. We need to treat all humanity as we want to be treated. Our soldiers do not deserve to be sparing their lives as they did and those from other countries deserve to live in peace. |
