DEC is also supposedly selling their networking business to Cabletron. So, with Alpha chipmaking gone, networking gone, I guess this 'systems business' is what's left. Not having followed DEC too closely lately (other than general news - they have been restructuring their business forever and can't seem to get it together), what exactly would CPQ get other than service/systems skilled bodies? I don't think CPQ wants DEC's hardware business, since it already manufactures most of what DEC does, and more efficiently (my guess) at that. Now that Intel owns Alpha chipmaking, that part of DEC's business will now become just a part of Intel. I did hear recently that DEC does have a pretty big cash hoard also, (couple B's), but other than bodies/cash, is that it??
