My understanding is that the morning-after pill can prevent implantation of an already fertilized egg. And my understanding of conception is that it equates to fertilization, not implantation. So while the pill can act as a contraceptive, it can also act as an abortificant.

The morning-after pill came along long after I had any personal stake in its use so I may not be up on the subtleties of its use. Maybe there are some circumstances for which it is the perfect contraceptive. If so, I would be curious to know that they are. It would seem that its primary purpose is post conception, otherwise it would not have been promoted as "morning after." And if you're looking for a contraceptive, there would seem to be better choices. That's my thinking. I'm willing to be edified.

If I were in need of such a product, I wouldn't care how it worked just as long as it did work. But the distinction is important to the lifers and I'm a stickler about word usage and intellectual honesty. I am arguing against interest when I recognize that distinction.
