On ANY product, when there is more supply, there is less cost. But that aside, maybe in 100-200 YEARS, oil will be not as needed as it is today.

But looking at your statement below.....it's one thing to "push away from oil".....it's another thing entirely to not have alternative fuels readily available and cost effective RIGHT at the same time you are "pushing away from oil".....

If you don't have 'ready to use alternative products on a massive scale' you will have chaos in the entire economic system.

For instance, we have more than plenty for the next 1,000 YEARS of Natural Gas. Some could be converted into fuel for cars (that today are not even born)....So tell me, where is the distribution system for that converted natural gas???

In fact, what has Obama done to allow companies to convert the natural gas into a product that can be used for auto fuel? And then what distribution system? How and where is the fuel to be delivered so it can be put into cars (that Government Motors hasn't even put on the floor as yet)....

ALL we get is a Gas Bag from DC....

Solar energy is not ready for prime time at an acceptable cost level for most people.
Wind power is nearly a joke.....will not be used on a massive scale for much of anything.
Nuclear power is already in use, but massive government regulations hold back any wide usage.

It makes no sense at all to tear down a system until a replacement is up and running. To do so, is a death wish for any modern society.

"That's why we need to push away from oil as fast as we can. Over the long run oil is a losing game for our country."
