Yeah, well, it didn't cost 2T or 8T or anywhere in between. Less than 1T over 10 years, ~100B/y.

And that is before adjusting for the savings we got from not having to deal with Saddam for the last 10 years (and the next 10).

To the extent the Middle East is a more difficult problem today than it was, that's on Obama. Bush handed him a stable situation in the Middle East, and provided Obama with an opportunity (through the Freedom Agenda) to have really accomplished something important. Unfortunately, due to Obama's incompetent mishandling of the situation, the next 10 years will be probably be spent by Obama's successor having to clean up the mess of the last 4 years.
