Glad you stopped by this thread. Shalom is very prolific. And glad that he has attracted some more interest and discussion here. Agrre with you that accepting either description of our origins requires faith. This demonstrates that you are open-minded.
For me the choice between Creation and Evolution is also a choice between chance and purpose. That is, do events in this natural world unfold according to a purpose or by the chance interaction of many different individuals -- I have faith and believe there is a purpose behind everything -- not everything is "GOD's will" but there is a direction that everything is flowing to.
Some believe in an endless cycle of rebirth, but even these have a goal of "breaking that cycle." In each of us I believe is this desire for 'paradise,' utpoia, call it "what you will, " an idyllic place or state in which we are surrounded by love with a complete absence of fear. I believe I can conceive of it only because it truly exeists.
I was raised and taught of Jesus, His teachings, His life, but I did not accept blindly that this was the way to "paradise." I lived as I desired and found the life I was living was not leading me to where i wanted to be. Then I examined the teachings for myself ...
Again, glad you dropped in. Please feel welcome here. Anything you wish to discuss. Many folks more knowledgeable than me here. Enjoy.
