ahhaha - I live in the same area as you with the same problem. I did manage to get someone at TCI to explain the problem to me and they said that initally they wanted to have all the bay area open around the 1st of 1998. Unfortunately, they have found that they have to "completely rebuild" large parts of the system that they did not originally expect to have to and consequently they have decided to open the bay area city by city with everything done by the end of 1998. If you look at their site this seems to be the case since Plesanton is now on the list along with another city for "near term" opening. I own ATHM and feel, like many, that it is clearly the best system. Unfortunately it is expensive for most cable companies in metropolitan areas because they have to rebuild a lot of their system. The "cheap alternatives" are banging at the door of the cable companies. Our hope is that word of mouth will eventually force cable companies to spend the money. Question: What do you think of writing covered calls on ATHM? It does seem to be a long term play and probably won't jump up by a lot in the immediate future.
