Can you hear them and is it clear or broken? If not, it could be that you just have to much latency. In other words, you talk but your voices are being delayed or getting chopped up with little delays scattered everywhere. The thing to do would be to phone a friend on your good line and explain to them that you want to test something on them. That way they won't hang up right away if the connection is bad and they can report back to you on what they heard.

If neither of you hear anything or if just one you is not hearing anything, then latency is likely not the problem. If its not latency then I would suspect either the mike (I am guessing you played with the mike volume?) or Skype software related. If its software related, you will probably have to try to get some support from Skype. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Skype software or Mac. (I have Vbuzzer on a PC, but I dont suggest Vbuzzer as their software is klutzy).

If it is latency, it is either your computer or your internet connection not being able to keep up.

Hope it works out for you and keep me posted. :)
