We might get a new AppleTV next Wednesday, too. The Motley Fool: The Next Apple TV Is Closer Than You Think fool.com As I've written before, I don't think Apple is going into the business of making TVs ... it seems much more likely to me that Apple will make an improved AppleTV set-top box that can control the TV and (I sincerely hope) the constellation of other devices attached to it (DVD player, etc), with Apple's differentiating factor being a voice interface to all of those devices (as well as the TV itself). I was in a video store last week and almost bought a Dolby 5.1 entertainment center to go with our TV. Then I remembered that Apple was likely to release something soon that had the potential to make anything I bought last week instantly obsolete, no matter how nicely priced it was there. One disappointed salesguy later and I left empty-handed, but probably wiser.
