the point I'm making, which is about roles in society. If the medical business expands to include more medical and business folks, that's not a matter of roles but rather of size. If government expands it or if the clergy expand it, then we get into role issues.

Who are you to say what church's role in society should be? Maybe a church sees healthcare as being related to it's mission. I am well aware of two religious based organizations that provide adoption and relief care. Who should say that's not part of their mission in the world?

For someone who understands that government shouldn't be in the hospital business, this should resonate with you. What if the military started buying up and operating civilian hospitals? Would you not think that it was outside its role?

The military does have hospitals (not just VA) and they're part of the military's mission. So do other agencies (like public health clinics). I don't have a problem if it's related to their mission.

I don't see that you've identified a negative except that you perceive it as a negative.

I perceive it as a negative because all my education, training, and experience so indicate. They used to pay me to come up with this stuff. Of course, anyone is entitled to an opinion.

Excuse me for not agreeing with yours.

It's really hard for people to do this fairly.

It is, but anyone with the right temperament and an analytical bent can learn to do it. What is difficult is watching how cavalier so many people are about it.

It's easy for people to fool themselves.
