Hitchens redoubles the point he makes that humans have been around for easily 100,000yrs or more and at one point almost go extinct and all the while "heaven" sits there & does nothing . When one thinks about those early humans that would have virtually nothing in the way of medicines or any treatments yet capable as we of feeling pain, it would be common to see prolonged death agony over & over again . From just simple infections or absessed teeth , apendicitist , childbirth , broken limbs , gangrene with life expectancy well down in the low 20s . And this dumb heaven sits there and does nothing for 100-200k yrs while excruciating agony is repeated over & over again ...sure.
Craig as usual throws up some make believe idiot fairy dust rebutt (ala Ted Haggard ) that there was less than 2% of all the humans that ever lived before such & such , just how apologetic does it get ? The fact is millions & millions of human beings died horribly for 1000's upon 1000's of years & God did nothing . Daily suffering , agonies beyond our comprehension and where was this "God", on vacation in another Galaxy perhaps ?
When watching 2001 Space Odysessy for the first time , people were enthralled with the scene where our little ape "moongazer" picks up the bone & thinks "ah" , here's the power to defeat the other tribe . I was thinking the night before when they were huddled in the cave , how many of our ancestors had to live & die horribly & at the mercy of any smallest thing , just for us to be here now ?
I'm sure deep in his heart Craig misses Hitchens a great deal , for giving him a tiny wake up call & freedom from his almost profound boring mental endless looping around the make believe mayberry bush . Job , Mohab , Ebeneezer, Mohammed & all the rest of the merry bunch of bronze age idiots that had zero to say about anything but tribal rants . |
