Mohan, you do have a very deep understanding about the real facts
about the Taiwan phenomina, and all your statements are very true !!!

Yes, usa, India are colonies of Brit, to say it in another words, brit took over by force, so there was nothing wrong to return them to the
local people. Hong Kong , Macau used to be China's territories, and
were taken over by force by Brit and Protugue, so , there were nothing
wrong to return them to the original owner, which is China. Taiwan is
a break away province of China, and most people in Taiwan do not want to be independent(but their voice is never heard in the medias, only the political people which have a lot benefit if Taiwan get independent wants Taiwan to be independent, so those people are minority in Taiwan. So if the majority do not want to be independent, then the independence can not be sustained), so the independence can never be materized , unless using the military force.
There are quite a lot similarity between the Taiwan Phenomina and
the US civil war. The real cause of the Civil war is because The South
want to be independent and break away from the north, which is the
formal USA recognized by the world. To prevent the south from breaking away, Licon chosed to use military force. So, Steve, your model is not right.
another very strange phenomina I found in Taiwan is that a lot of middle class started to immigrate to Mainland China now, and students are going to China for their university study, eventhough the Taiwanese government does not admit the diploma of unversities in China and which are admitted internationally by many countries in the
world. Another very interesting thing is that the Taiwan government
tends to politicalize everything with Mainland China.

As to the Human right, I found no major problems in China, people can talk freely, travel freely, go to the church freely, even the president was critized publically by people, just like Clinton can
be critized by people publically.
But in Taiwan, things are quite different, there is no jusitice in
the legal system, if you have money to bribe the judger , you can do
anything illegal without facing the penality of the law. It is very hard for Americans to imagine that the Democratic party to use the tax money to invest for the party's benefit, but this is now happening in Taiwan, the Koming ton party is the biggest investor , billions of dollars were invested , and those money all came from the tax money
of regular people , and profit of the investment all goes to the party
and controlled by the chairman of the party. In Taiwan, there is no
social justice, and the society is now completely out of order, crime,
murders, rubbory case is on the newspaper everyday, but the police and legal systems are just helpless and can't do anything, because
the upper political people did not abide the law either, and everything is controlled by those people. o, in Taiwan, the average
people on the street is very pessimisitic about the future and feel helpless and can not do anything to have it fixed, because everything
is controlled by single one person. So , if you look at the thing from another angle, you will find that the current system is more horrible,
and much more comparing to the communism of 30 years ago, and the most
terrible thing is that they also claim that they have democracy in public. To elect the local officials, 100 billion yes was spent , and most of those money was spent on bribe.People were paid 500 to 1000
NT per person to elect the candidate nominated by the party, local people called this "buying Ticket".This is what we called modern democratic system. To summarize, My feeling is that the average people
on the street are just being held like hostage by the government who
controlled everything. people just felt helpless to fix the current system, so they just work very hard, concentrate on making money and
then immigrate to overseas and leave the country. This is what is happening in Taiwan, it is very sad, but it is the truth.
