Lady Astor was a laborite?

Good question. She was a political adversary to Churchill. This banter could have taken place when Churchill was a Liberal before becoming a Tory. I have read several of Churchills books, and if my memory serves me correctly Lady Astor was indeed a labourite.
If you are interested in Churchill, THE best biography I have come across is "The last lion", by your fellow countryman, William Manchester.
