They've only recently started expanding ??? This isn't about some big new expansion by the church in to new functions or in to a larger position within functions they previously served. I don't think such an expansion happened at all, and even if it has, it doesn't have much to do with the current controversy. The expansion that is causing the current problem is the expansion of government control.
