My wife had a very good BCBS plan she had to drop when she started at CU Denver because the school required a certain deductible for mental health care and our plan was $500 less than the requirements. The school wouldn't waive it and she had to pay for the vastly inferior school coverage.

I had the same raw deal when I attended law school at the University of Utah. I would've rather saved the couple thousand dollars in borrowed money and paid the cash fee at the local medical clinic if needed.
