Alex: Great scoop. I am intrigued that the Chairman and CEO would feel the need to respond to a newsletter writer. That leads me to believe that Mr. Maedel HAD a deep involvement in JBA. What we do know is that 1997 has been a year where the company has generated little positive news for shareholders. Who is responsible for this is anyone's guess.

I am also intrigued by the last couple sentences in Dr. Guilbert's statement to "watch the news wire over the next fortnight". Something must be going on - either regarding jv's or personnel.

Has anyone out there seen this Maedel's piece? As a subscriber his newsletter usually doesn't reach me (I'm in NYC) until the first week of each month. My guess something was put out on his fax service. If anyone out there can post it or can summarize it, it would be helpful.

What to do? I am in JBA because of Maedel's. What appealed to me most on JBA vs. the other Maedel's picks was one thing: John Guilbert. As someone who made a killing in Arequipa, if he has 25% the success of his close friend and partner David Lowell (AQP's Chairman and CEO), I'll be happy and make a lot of $$. I'm gonna continue to bet on him regardless of what Mr. Maedel thinks.

What are others out there thinking? Mudman
