Why would they spend money on something from some company that may work and work just fast enough - but is always behind state of the art?
=================================
I own Intel and not the clones, but..... I would think the IT spending would be for a "whole package" from someone like HP or IBM (I have large positions in both) where all they really want is a cost effective solution that the the service company will support and keep running. If HP or IBM choose to go with a clone CPU, then it would be transparent to most users. I've read that HPs going with selling big NT servers then outfitting the users with "smaller" PCs...I have a P6/200 with 4Meg video and a 21" screen running at work with an NT server and it seems to run very well. It seems that if the clones can add some cost savings for a P6/200 equivalent, then there is room....they just have to convince HP/IBM et. al. to go that way.
