(NEWSER) – Rush Limbaugh gave an on-air apology for his Sandra Fluke remarks today, in a form that's sure to leave Democrats sputtering with rage. "I sincerely apologize to Miss Fluke for using those two words to describe her. I do not think that she is either of those two words," he said. He said that in using those words he had "acted too much like the leftists who despise me. I descended to their level, using names and exaggerations to describe Sandra Fluke. It's what we've come to expect of them, but it's way beneath me."

Some people had questioned the sincerity of Rush's original, web-only apology. Fluke herself appeared on The View today to dismiss it. "I don't think that a statement like this issued, saying that his choice of words was not the best, changes anything," she said, adding that she didn't want a personal call from Rush either. "I think his statements that he made on the air about me have been personal enough." She noted that Rush's apology came under duress from advertisers; yet another, AOL, jumped ship today, Mediaite reports. Less »
