Church encroachment is a non-factor here. Expanding what you do isn't an encroachment on others. Ordering others around is. If your talking about church expansion vs government expansion, then the first is largely benign, and very small compared to the 2nd which is anything but benign. In ways in which the church might as an organization be controlling, its been shrinking since at least the Protest Reformation, really since before that, not expanding.
