Atheism has nothing to do with NOT believing in higher intelligence. I don't need to fly to Mars to find higher intelligence. And I surely do not believe I could take the long walk through space without finding BOTH lower level and higher level intelligence--just as we note here on this thread ! :-)

Atheism is simply about being unwilling to make-up (or create out of whole cloth) a fabricated intelligence with attributes that are neither suggested nor evidenced by any reasonable approach to the reality we have known. I do believe in the strong possibility of higher intelligences out there...some where.

And I do believe in the infinitesimally tiny possibility of an intelligence tailor made to fit the ignorant imaginations of extremely primitive humans. If anything, civilization has even made our imagination more ridiculous when it comes to inventing gods. As case in point, consider the stupidity of the Hale-Bopp space travellers who juxtaposed primitive mythology and a Greek imagination with a modern Geek imagination and went to ride on some gaseous ice hurtling through space?? Hey...you think Brum and the fairy child are STUPID over talking donkeys and crap like that? Well, keep the talking donkey and the other crap and ADD on a flight through space on a gas ball. STUPID???? Yeah...I guess. And these El Stupidos had Science--and centuries of information to draw on?

But imagination and emotional dishonesty are like atavistic genes. They can make the weak (or shall we kindly say, the vulnerable) into grovelling, snivelling fools...
