Life sometimes is Just a Chair of Bowlies....as they say.....I got caught in the traffic mess last night...Had had an appointment about 25 miles to the north of home....appointment lasted till about 5:10...on the freeway home, which at the most should take about 45 minutes, and give it 55 if traffic is a mess.....Well last night was a MESS ...actually an unbelievable MESS. I didn't get home till nearly 7!!! There was a back up of traffic that the State Patrol and helicopters said was at least 8 miles long, in each of several directions merging onto 1-90......and I was one of those in that 8 miles of MESS.

Of course, just to make matters worse....we have 2 floating bridges between the Eastside and Seattle. The accident happened at rush hour.....The Evergreen Bridge now is again a TOLL Bridge at $3.50-5.00 EACH way.....every day....($3.50 if you buy tickets ahead and $5 if you don't)....SOOOOOO it is now called a Rich Man's Bridge, and so more and more commuters are coming to the 1-90 Bridge to go home....

Thus on the best of days, Rush Hour Traffic is a total mess.....this MESS was the Supercalifragilistic MESS of some time!

We have a Dem Gov, and Dem House and Senate in this State...NO income tax, BUT heavily taxed in just everything. The Bridge is now being Taxed/Tolled with stiff tolls and for the NEXT 40 YEARS!! the tolls are to apply.....they want and I guess are going to put a 3rd bridge in because of all the extra traffic needs.....

Turns out now, because of the toll on the Evergreen Bridge, that bridge has easy access now, while the original floating bridge at rush hour is now a horror....PLUS the dang government in their "wisdom" has decided to put in rapid train rails on 1-90.....just to compound the problem.

Wonder if anyone has thought about what is to happen to rigid trail rails and a "floating bridge" that is on pontoons and moves....????

Sometimes I wonder if anyone in Olympia has any grey matter at all.....or if it is only fog between their ears...

UPDATE: Flipped Car on Westbound I-90 Bridge Causes Major Delays A serious accident on the westbound lanes of the Interstate 90 Floating Bridge at the Mt. Baker Tunnel is causing delays of over an hour from Bellevue to Seattle.

Update, 7:30 p.m.: According to the Washington State Patrol, all lanes are now clear, but traffic delays are persisting on the I-90 Floating Bridge.

    ...

Original: Accroding to the WSDOT, a collision at around 4:25 p.m. is blocking the two right lanes of I-90 westbound just east of Mt Baker Tunnel.

As of 5:35 p.m., the current backup is 8 miles, all the way to Bellevue's Eastgate neighborhood. Use alternate routes, or expect to see a lot of slow moving brake lights.

Medical Aid, Fire Assistance (including the Mercer Island Fire Department), the Incident Response Team, and the State Patrol have arrived on the scene.
