"Since you have no idea whom was in the space ship you saw, you also have no idea of their capabilities."
That is true. Neither do I have reason to imagine capabilities which are my own gratuitous and fanciful contributions...
Their mode of travel suggests they are NOT omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent, eternal, supernatural, and so forth. Nothing in human existence supports the idea that such a thing as omniscience or omnipotence exists. The idea actually seems quite stupid, although it cannot be positively discarded any more than can invisible unicorns in my soup.
I interpret the real world through my senses and my neural network. I think it was Arthur Clarke who said (and he may have got it from someone else) that any very advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. So the imagination of the desert Jews invented a god who had an ass, a nose, fingers, vocal cords, feet, etc. They invented a god who was very human: Cruel, vicious, prejudiced, irrational, racist, gluttonous, covetous, capricious, etc. Later, more intellectual men gave him omniscience, omnipotence, the ability to walk through walls and any other imaginable stuff. They put him in a boardroom in "heaven" to meet with Satan and all the other deities to discuss business plans and experiments and blah, blah, blah!
I can choose from thousands of WELL WRITTEN intelligent authors and their writings whom exercise my imagination much more creatively than this absurd and poorly written mumbo jumbo... |
