I'm sure he'll fade from view as the fiscal catastrophe looms large and the USA starts to look like Greece, but with no Germany to do the bailing out.

Do you disagree with the idea of a free market in money? That seems a decidely unkooky idea to me. Is there a particular idea he has which you think has a high Kook factor? I haven't seen one.

And regarding insurance risk, how widely would you bundle insurance? Would you back a single universal "everything is insured policy - car, house, health, job, earthquake, volcano, force majeure"? One single payment anyone and everyone and anything all insured.

When testing ideas, as in engineering, I find it useful to test "boundary conditions". If your collectivisation ideas don't work out there, it becomes a question of how tightly you would define the collective risk. Communism seems like a great idea, until it is adopted.

Like the old joke goes, it seems we agree that insurance is like prostitution, we are just haggling over the price.
