Jesus promoted charity not socialism. After getting the woman caught in adultery released, he told her 'go and sin no more', not something a liberal would say like 'love the one you're with'. Jesus loved and blessed little children, he wouldn't have approved of abortion or infanticide. He threatened people who would lead children to stumble into sin with divine punishment, saying it would be better if a millstone were attached to their neck and they were cast into the sea.
Matthew 18:5 "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.
Does that sound like someone who'd approve of abortion or infanticide?
Mark 9:42 "And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck.
Notice that he approved of teaching little ones to believe in him.
Jesus believed in Satan and evil spirits and cast them out. He believed in hell, "where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." He spoke more about hell than heaven. Furthermore, most of what the Bible teaches about hell comes directly from his words.
It was Judas, the betrayer, who said when a woman annointed Jesus with an expensive perfume, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” ... “Leave her alone,” Jesus replied, “It was intended that she should save this perfume for the day of my burial. You will always have the poor among you, but you will not always have me.” |
