You watch some of the young boys talk about the loss/murder of their brother & hopelessness of any future & having been taught they may meet again in after life makes death more bearable & even preferable . Where sorrow is so overwhelming , hopelessness of any improvement so high , access to barest necessity of food shelter home or family , religion attempts to identitfy some heavenly home , family & peace that was rarely ever found on earth.
How similar this would be to 2000yrs ago as the Romans pressed their heels hard on the necks of the Jew threatening their annihilation and then later on as civil war & instability losing its grip with barbarians threatening all frontiers to the very gates of the City of Rome . Then one sees just how great the power of an idea like "resurrrection" and life after death can be where the pagan religion had viewed death as more realistic somber affair comes along Christianity & Islam that promises quite a great deal more , to all even the lowest to actually be swept up literally to a place in eternity .
The average human daily experience 2000yrs ago would pretty hard to even imagine , to say it was a tough existence (as it always has been) would be an understatement , so now the millions of people lucky enough to have Net access all lost in cyberspace themselves twittering away on FaceBook & Youtube which would be probably exactly what controversies went on back in Rome too, just without the internet .
Well here's the focus back on frightening realities & instability in Africa right before the Arab Spring events start to unfold again & fragile economic recovery in the Western countries unfolds in its own Eurpope/USA 2012 . One beauty is the entire world now can look upon Africans as truely similarly endowed human beings with rights to a humane life & existence more than any other time in recent centuries , look at the power of the media . |
