The $1 Billion in adapters for 1998 was a Dataquest number. Here is a link to another message that explains this further.

I also find it hard to believe that there will be that many FC adapters and switches sold in 1998, but as KJ points out, perhaps hubs are lumped in with switches. If the source of the higher numbers ($6 Billion in adapters and $1 Billion in switches) is indeed an investment firm of some sort, they might be trying to over-inflate their numbers to generate more investment interest. The Dataquest numbers seem more reasonable to me.

It would be interesting to know what Ancor's and Brocade's internal sales forecasts are for 1998. The last time I talked to Ancor, I got the distinct impression that STORAGE was the key to their success.
