Hiram, I've looked into Terayon some, and was quite impressed with their solution. I believe they did well in their CableLabs testing. Cisco has shown some interest in their technology, but I don't know where that might lead. Pilot deployment of their system has been pretty minimal so far. I'm sure this isn't what you meant, but to set the record straight, CDMA doesn't actually clean up the noise, it is just potentially more robust to certain types of noise. I could never find enough technical detail to judge whether it is truly practical for a 2000+ subscriber load, nor could I find any info on the channel bandwidths after spreading and whether they are frequency-agile, etc. I'm also not convinced that it really has performance advantages over the QPSK or 16QAM FDMA/TDMA burst modulation with programmable FEC, under under real world conditions. I think they both work equally well under worst-case impairment testing. Also, haven't spent too much time looking into LMDS/MMDS. Again, technically good solutions from what little I've seen, but widespread deployment and acceptance???? Don't know!
