Maybe a better argument would be that if unions are obsolete so is the 40 hour work week and weekends. These are benefits enjoyed because they were fought hard for by unions and workers in the past.

Wal Mart is famous for churning it's new hires so that they either won't get enough hours to get health insurance or will be let go before they have the 1 year or whatever it is necessary to qualify.
