RFC -- Another chink in CDRD armour

This idea of "subscription radio" has two things wrong with it I don't remember having been enunciated before. First is the idea consumers care about radio enough to pay money for it. I am quite certain they do not. In dollars, and nearly every other aspect for that matter, I reckon Radio is to TV as High School Football is to College. They are in such different leagues it is beyond comprehension.

Next, has it occurred to anybody this is just a DSS rip-off. Anyone notice what USSB's stock has done since going public? Anyone want to venture a guess as to when USSB will become profitable? Notice USSB was able to get venture capital in the early stages (before it even had subscribers) when its concept was unprooven and sounded good on paper. I can imagine those same venture capitalists laughing CDRD out the door when they said they were going to sell radio. Now with the tough time USSB is having no venture capitalist would touch CDRD. Their only hope is unsuspecting stock market speculators.

As further proof a concept capable of standing on its own two feet will actually get funding, I offer PrimeStar. It showed up on the seen about the same time USSB did, thus its concept was still considered viable. It was funded as a joint venture between TCI, GE, and a few other cable operators. Worthy ideas, capable of making profit consumate with their risk will get legitimate financial backing.
