I find it likely that history will repeat itself... Win 8 will catch some initial malignment like Vista did and all will be forgiven in a successor that will be more widely adopted and have the rougher edges smoothed. In reality Vista and Windows 7 were very similar OSs and the reality in the media and on the street were rather different. But is was Vista where the real weight-lifting of pushing forward the advances were done, i.e. the new driver model, LUA and file and registry virtualization.

I don't think the premise of this article is far from my own opinion here... although indeed put forth in a much more attention grabbing style. In the end "Plan B" will be refinements based upon practical feedback, and by no means some altogether different changes.
