"Win 8 will catch some initial malignment like Vista did and all will be forgiven in a successor that will be more widely adopted and have the rougher edges "

But the problem is that Window 8 is playing catch up in both the phone and tablet market. They don't have the luxury of time to work out all the interface and user problem. The issue is attracting developers for the new Apps. The big draw for Window 8 is all the legacy application but they only run on x86 based Window 8 tablet. I don't think anyone really know much about how much power one of those x86 tablet will consume. If they are not competitive with the current 9-10 hours usage, it will put them even further behind. And the ARM based Window 8 tablet has no legacy application to help them, who is going to buy them given that they don't have any app when they launch? In the phone side, there is no apps other than what Microsoft produce. Is there enough to get user hook? Not a chance..
