Respectfully, your answer was a non-answer. Just two points:
1. Many of the pundits wonder why Gingrich doesn't exit yet they also say that his staying gives Romney the best chance and then, they finally say, only Romney can best Obama this Fall.
So, it would seem to be a good thing for Romney if Gingrich stayed in.
Personally, I would like to see him hang around for a bit more since he has been more vocal about the oil/gasoline issue than any of the other candidates. The more this issue is discussed, the more those foot dragging democrats like Schummer et. al. might feel pressured to join with the republicans to actually do something positive.
2. I'll give you my definition of the GOP/RNC elite.
IMO, it has not varied from the cigar smoke-filled rooms of nearly one hundred years ago. It is just that the volume of noise, the power and the money has increased plus many of today's average voters now better understand how an election works and how everyone must wait their turn, "get in line and behave" until they are anointed. The Tea party has upset that apple cart making both sides nervous. The IRS pursuit of 90 Tea Party groups give us a hint of what the democrats believe.
I think we all know that Romney stepped down in '08 and "got in line" for '12.
Besides the RNC/GOP top membership, it is the bundlers, the high rolling that donate, the Karl Roves, the House and Senate party leadership that represent the party elite. In the case of the democrats, it is also the MSM top leadership.
There are others with more sinister objectives such as Soros.
There is an elite in virtually every organization in existence.
Being part of the elite is not necessarily a bad thing. It merely needs to be recognized that because this is the group with the power, the wealth etc. they sometimes get carried away with their views about the candidates and the issues. Many conservatives have concluded that the GOP/RNC elite have made and are intent on making too many mistakes which better serves the liberal ideology than the conservative one. Hence the Tea Party.
Bottom line - the republicans will vote to oust Obama in a few months and Romney still has the best shot to be the GOP pick.
