But the problem is that Window 8 is playing catch up in both the phone and tablet market. Remember that huge insurmountable catch-up Microsoft had to do when Windows 3.1 was introduced? Apple had a GUI. All MS had was this DOS interface on their PCs. Yeah, pretty much just like today, MS didn't stand a chance considering Apple had a been dominating that GUI PC market for a few years. Really, the only possibly leverage Microsft had at that time was 15 years of backards compatibility and numerous manufacturers. How could they possibly compete with that rabbit who could just make their exploited customers throw out all of their legacy hardware and software systems, developers and infrastructure invested steeply and strategically in for the previous 15 years? Some people will never, ever learn. This time its what, 30 odd years of backwards compatibility, people, hardware and software investments that you are convinced corporations and PC users will give up to get shiny the new toys faster than the guy up the block. You've been sold that the iPad isn't a PC. You've been sold a load of crap. Everything else is wishful thinking. How many times has Apple abandoned previous OS hardware and software backwards compatibility in their existence? Start with the Apple II and move forward. The one thing that fanberrati never seem to quite get is that legacy matters. More than anything else. The iPad is a wonderful new form factor for the PC. Its a wonderful product. I love the higher res screen.... it'll push everyone else forward. Unfortunately for Apple customers, Apple continnues their tried and true old ways of throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Perhaps that is the only bit of legacy Apple really does maintain. :) Its a universe built on protomatter. You do know how they turn out, don't you? :)
