Well, no, she actually did no such thing.

As the article points out, you have to be at least 18 in Florida to legally own real estate.

She has a private deal with her mother, a realtor, to use her savings to have a half-interest in the house her mother owns, as an investment. And good for her.

But after all, headline writers need something to attract readers, don't they?
