Sir: There simply is no other sound in this world that will cause instant panic and fear in the heart of some unwelcome 'visitor' in the middle of the night, as will that universally recognized 'metallic chunk-kerchunk" sound of an 870 being racked to load a round in the chamber. Most times, actually engaging the 'on' switch will not even be necessary after that.
In size 12, the 870 is probably one of the very best home defense weapons available. Preferably with an 18 or 20 inch 'tube', open choke, and several rounds of #4 Buck shot inserted therein.
If you got an 870, "you done good".
They're pretty much 'idiot proof' (even the best of us, in the middle of the night and after being awakened by a strange noise needs simplicity), and will definitely accomplish the mission.
Get one, take it along to the practice range, talk good to it, fondle it, treat it right, and it will never, ever, let you down. |
